Launch Day for Wide Write

On this day, January 27th of 1991, Al Michaels made the call heard ‘round the world.

Much to the dismay of Bills fans, it was a call that would not soon be forgotten. Scott Norwood’s 47-yard field goal try sailed wide-right, sealing the victory for the New York Football Giants in Super Bowl XXV. A kick through the uprights would have made the score 22-20 in favor of Buffalo, but instead we are left pleading “just one before I die".”

Today, however, is a good day for the Mafia. On the 33rd anniversary of Super Bowl XXV, we celebrate the launch of our new website “The Wide Write Journal.” After years or dreading the sound, we decided it was time for us to wear it proud like a Darth Vader mask, an Elvis suit, a chefs hat, or ketchup and mustard.. (if you know you know.)

- So, what is “Wide Write?”

Well, at the present time, it’s a couple die-hard Bills fans with a dream. That dream is to create our own community within Bills Mafia that is more informed, involved, and prepared by kickoff. As a couple of dudes who spend hours and hours a week sifting though stats, injury reports, waivers, interviews, fantasy projections etc. We have always wished there was a place we could go that covers it all. After so long, we got tired of waiting, and decided to just make the damned thing ourselves. All things Buffalo Bills, along with the information you need to be ready for Sunday.

- What’s to Come?

We decided to wait for the offseason to get things going because, well, we’re new here. Starting-up while minds have shifted from football to The World Curling Championships (or whatever) gives us a little more time to work out the kinks. As you’ll see, we’ve already gotten a start on keeping you in-the-know, but lucky for us.. there’s not much to know. As we near Free Agency, you’ll start to notice a more regular cycle of content from our page via X (twitter), Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or just our website HQ. When there’s more to know, we’ll be on it.

When things really start to pick up, keep an eye out for updates on video content, podcasts, and new weekly segments (or maybe even a few fantasy leagues within the “Wide Write” community?) Until then, we will be covering topics like who the Bills should re-sign, who they should re-structure and who needs to take a hike. We’ll also start to take a look at some draft predictions, possible pick-ups, and where around the league the big names are headed, and what it means for the Bills.

-How Can I Follow Along?

The best way to see our content for the nearest of futures is to follow us on Twitter, or check back here. When content starts hitting you like a Nathan Peterman interception, we’ll become a little more diverse. Another option is to sign up for alerts, so you’ll be the first to know when we put out something new, or have any exciting announcements.

If you’ve made it this far, we hope you stick around. By now we know you’re no stranger to being a loyal fan, even when it sucks. So we figured it’s worth a shot. Thank you for your support!

Go Bills. - Noah & Joe
